The Texan artist – a lover of rap, punk and tattoos – makes his debut as director and premieres his first film where he and Travis Barker are narrators.

The much tattooed Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Colson Baker) has become a movie director and come up with Downfalls High, a musical now out on YouTube (look at the full version at the end of the article) after MGK first launched it on his Facebook page.

The film tells the story of Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker (drummer of Blink-182 and longtime collaborator of the Texan artist) and features actor Sydney Sweeney and the new star of American rap Lil Huddy (Chase Hudson) as well as appearances by blackbear, Iann Dior and Trippie Redd.

About Downfalls High Machine Gun Kelly says it was “almost like shooting 14 music videos back to back, but with a narrative that’s outside my personal life stories”.

“The film,” Colson continues, “focuses on other characters, and then me and Travis are just the narrators. It’s an interesting concept because it hasn’t been done for an album ever, maybe outside of like Pink Floyd’s “The Wall””.

The project was written by Colson Baker together with Mod Sun (American rapper, singer-songwriter, musician and poet) and shot in Los Angeles last year. At the time of writing, Downfalls High has had almost 4 millions views on YouTube.

Machine Gun Kelly comes out with his first film after the success in 2020 of his album “Tickets to My Downfall” which topped the charts in the US and marked a change in gear with the rapper venturing into pop-punk territory.

Enjoy Downfalls High!
